Frank Dick launches programme for IFAC 2013

I think everyone agreed that IFAC 2012 was the best ever. So the challenge is “Beat that!”

And I know we will because that’s what we do at IFAC.

First we are building on the success of centring the program on Glasgow’s wonderful National Indoor Arena.

Next, consistent with our mission to help coaches be better and be different in what they do and how they do it, we have invited keynote speakers who are at the cutting edge in their areas of expertise. Harry Marra, coach to Ashton Eaton, Olympic Gold Medallist and world record holder in Decathlon and to Brianne Theisen, winner of this year’s Gotzis Heptathlon.

Boris Verkhovsky is the genius behind the magic of Cirque du Soleil. First hired as head coach, he is now director of performance design and development. He brings powerful lessons in creating harmony through diversity and being better through being different.

Dean Benton has taken the concept of “Athletic Fitness” to a new level in rugby with the Brumbies and Australian Wallabies. More than this, he has set the benchmark in design and delivery of preparation planning for all sport.

Vin Walsh is a world leader in how the brain may be trained to advance performance potential. His work is changing perception of performance targets and training methods.

The interactive seminars and practical workshops are again are hosted by a great line-up of experts in their respective fields. We have names like Vern Gambetta, Penny Werthner, Yannick Tregaro, Lorna Boothe, Martin Bingisser and many others. As the conference draws closer, we will be adding more names to an already exciting line up.

In all, then, we once again are raising the bar and setting the pace, because we understand the words of legendary coach Bill Bowerman:

“If there are limits to what we can do, I don’t know what they are.”

I look forward to welcoming you to Glasgow!

Prof. Frank Dick
EACA President
