It gives me great pleasure to have this opportunity to invite you to the first International Festival of Athletics Coaching in Glasgow.

It will give me even greater pleasure to welcome you here.

2009 sees what was formerly the European Athletics Coaches Association (EACA) Conference transformed into the Festival, which will also embrace the Scottish and Irish Annual Coaches Conferences.

This now means that coaches are offered a rich choice of options to address their personal development needs in their commitment to coaching excellence.

These options are built around an outstanding line-up of experts delivering the keynote presentations.

I am, personally, and on behalf of EACA Council, deeply grateful to scottishathletics, UK Athletics and European Athletics for their generous support and co-operation in making this event possible.

Ewen Cameron, Festival Manager, with his team from scottishathletics, has done a great job in putting the program together and ensuring that this will be a most valuable and enjoyable experience for you.

Glasgow, formerly European Culture Capital, offers a special blend of beauty, character and history in its unique brand of Scottish hospitality. For sure, the city will give you a very warm welcome.

The 2009 Festival will see Europe's largest ever assembly of athletics coaches sharing their experience and hunger to learn from the extensive knowledge menu on offer.

And that number will continue to grow as the Festival becomes the world's most important annual meeting place and forum for all coaches who live and breath the passion of coaching.

I believe you are such a coach.

So, I look forward to seeing you in Glasgow.

Dr Frank Dick
President
EACA
