TONI MINICHIELLO (UK)
Toni Minichiello is UKA National Coach for combined events. Toni Minichiello, who guided Jessica Ennis from the age of 11 to the World Championships heptathlon title in 2009 and to a stunning silver medal performance in Daegu this August.
Sheffield-based Minichiello, who also coaches the rising stars in combined events, has a strong belief in the long-term view in developing a prodigy into a medal winner – it takes 10 years and 10,000 hours of training for an athlete to reach the top of their sport. He also believes in a ‘no-boundaries’ approach, whereby a talented athlete is able to try more than one discipline or sport.
